Skills and MCP

Skills are like expert add-ons for the AI Agent. Each skill teaches it how to handle a certain kind of work and gives it the tools to do it. New skills are added all the time, so learn the ones you need.

  1. Open Skills in the main menu.
  2. Browse by category or search.
  3. Read the description and click Learn to install it.
  4. Click Use, or just ask the AI Agent for something related.

You don’t need to remember skill names. When a task in the AI Agent needs a skill you haven’t learned, it suggests one, installs it once you confirm, and carries on.

Some skills need an internet connection, a third-party account, or use more Credits. Check the description before you start.

If you or your team have written your own skills, import them directly:

  1. On the Skills page, switch to Custom.
  2. Click + Skill and choose a skill folder or ZIP file.
  3. The skill must include a SKILL.md file.

Imported skills appear in the Custom list, where you can also delete them. If you get a “missing SKILL.md” message, check that you picked the right folder. If the name is taken, remove or rename the existing skill first.

MCP is a standard way for AI to use outside tools. Many services offer an MCP server; once connected, the AI Agent can use that service directly, for example to query a database or edit an online document.

Under Skills → MCP, click to add an MCP server. You can either:

  • Configure manually: fill in the settings from the provider’s instructions; or
  • Import JSON: paste the JSON configuration the provider gives you.

Both local (stdio) and remote (HTTP/SSE) MCP servers are supported. When you save, Owlfy connects and imports the server’s tools, and tells you how many it found.
